The study by Korns et al. () was presented in the May 2015 issue of theInternational Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, which covers the pharmacokinetic aspects of sildenafil, the pharmacological effects of sildenafil on the nervous system, and their effect on cardiovascular and vascular health. It is an observational, longitudinal study that involved over 200 subjects. The study was conducted in collaboration with the German Medical Research Council (DGMR), the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the German Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine, as well as the French National Agency for Medical Research (ANAM) and the National Agency for Health, Safety and the Environment (ANET). The study was conducted on subjects (n=50) who took sildenafil and received at least three doses of sildenafil at the dosage of 50 mg/day for 12 weeks. In the period from the study, the researchers were able to observe the plasma and plasma clearance of sildenafil in a dose-response manner, as well as the time course of the plasma clearance of sildenafil. The study was approved by the institutional review board of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Zürich, and the ethics committee of the DFG. The study protocol was registered in the German Pharmacy Veritätsmedicin Registry (www.fda.ch).
